Rotary Club of Rockingham Medical Project 2020-21

Committee: Rowan & Linley Lambert

The Medical Project continues to supply much needed medical equipment to people in the Rockingham area.
We are fortunate that Rockingham General Hospital continues to supply us with equipment that they no longer require, in particular a very good supply of rollators, Zimmer frames, wheel chairs, shower chairs, over toilet chairs and crutches.

The past year has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic as we weren’t able to ship equipment overseas with all international aid work being put on hold.

However, we continued to lend out equipment to people in the Rockingham / Kwinana area and have had a steady stream of returned equipment over the same period.

Over the year we’ve lent out six over toilet chairs, eleven rollators, eight shower chairs, three sets of crutches, three high back chairs and seven wheelchairs.

This project is cost effective, with all the equipment being provided fee of charge, and the storage sheds at Hurrell Way being owned by the City of Rockingham for which we pay very little in the way of rent.

Linley and I have managed this project for three years but due to other commitments we won’t be able to continue managing it.
We are pleased to announce that Rory Wishart will be taking over the project in 2021-2
I would like to thank all the club members who have assisted in any way during the year.
